Graphic designer or graphic artist is a person who plans, analyzes, Visualizes and creates visual solutions to communications problems.
The qualified graphic designers have the skills in Drawing, Typography, Layout, Photography and Color Theory and use these skills in designing newspapers, magazines, corporate reports, journals, brochures packaging design, corporate identities and product design etc. Today there are many design software tools in the market but most popular and commonly used software are Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop, CorelDraw and QuarkXpress.

In addition, graphic designers with Website design and animation knowledge will especially be needed for interactive media to develop modules for e-learning, Mobile phones, Websites. Demand will also increase as advertising firms creating Print, Web marketing and promotional materials for a growing number of products and services.
Skills required for Career in Graphic Designing
There are many Colleges, universities, private schools/institutes that are providing Bachelor's degree/Diploma programs in fine arts or graphic design. Most curriculums include principles of design, Digital design, Color Theory, commercial arts, pre-press and printing techniques. In addition to design courses several topics like art history, writing, psychology, visual thinking, marketing, and business are also included in the curriculum.
Other than degree programs there are many private computer institutes who are providing Short term graphic design courses (3-6 months). These courses will give you working knowledge of design software’s like Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop, CorelDraw.
Remember learning software tools is not enough to enter into the shoes of graphic designers, so what we recommend you is having software knowledge is a mere requirement but having skills in color sense, Typography, design skills, visualization, design aesthetics etc. is more important.
